I have always liked your characters as you have drawn them and it never occurred to me that there was no neck. It was NOT something that was important. But now that you put them side by side … putting in the neck seems to make them less nice (did I say it nicely?) Stick with how you have been doing it all along … they are great and inspiring (on multiple levels). Blessings!

neck or no neck it comes down to your style overall. if you feel your style is the “no neck” go for it! even before style is an issue the writing is most important. XKCD is always the goto for writing over art. So, my vote is for no necks and keep on keepin on.

I like the hair you drew yourself when you have a neck! But the switch weirds me out. I say whatever you want to do is just the thing. :) love ya kid! see you in two days!!

Thanks all for weighing in! It was never a conscious decision to draw these characters without necks (I mean, I CAN and usually DO draw necks) but i think I’ll keep on with the way they’ve shaped up so far… i mean, I just posted my 50th comic and I feel like I only just blinked after posting my first one!

It’s not so noticeable under Wisconsin-winter clothing. As spring and summer progress, and the characters crack out the tee shirts, it might be more noticeable.
