Hey, I just had a day of record traffic! 279 hits… my best day to date. It’s hard to judge exactly why this was, since three things happened simultaneously:

1. I sent an email to all my contacts begging them to read my strip.
2. I set my facebook status commanding my friends to read my strip.
3. The totally rad Thermals put yesterday’s comic up as their myspace picture!

Thermal power.

Let me add, lest anyone question my safety (or my sanity) last night, this was not any kind of hard-core teeth-kicking mosh pit. In fact, there was a moment after one of the first few songs when a huge group of the slam dancers in front started holding people back in kind of a frantic crowd control, as if someone had gone down and was in danger of being trampled. But, when all was said and done it turns out that some guy had just dropped his glasses, and the other moshers were helping him to find them. How punk!

Also, the character at the bottom left is my friend Jason who took some awesome photos.

Check out the rest of Jason’s work here.

So I’m terrible at writing reviews of shows because usually all I can think to say is, “It was awesome!” but it was. Awesome. So that’s all I’ll say. :)

More dental woes. Surprised?

Well, technically it’s my crown that hurts, so really, that crying little thing shouldn’t even have roots.

The deafening cool.

Let them eat cake.

Actually I think it was more like 4 piercings, if we’re going for accuracy. If you weren’t a female growing up in the 80′s, don’t bother trying to get this one.

Also, I present the most encouraging text-conversation I’ve ever had:

Me: What’s your opinion of a first person narrator who isn’t quite the main character? Is that too passive of storytelling?
Molly: Ever heard of the Great Gatsby?

Thank you Molly!!

Van Rossum kids and car-ride sketches.

Our vacation was so great! I thought about drawing comics while I had the extra time (and there were plenty of moments that would have made great comics – our “lovely” GPS Annie alone provided enough material for weeks of frustrated, manic laughter… and then there was our harrowing unpaved mountain top car ride, and the exploding golf ball, and the RV that was engulfed in flames, and… ) but then I decided to just relax and enjoy the week and REALLY take a vacation.  But I realize I forgot to post this one before I left like I said I would… this is a comic I made for Meagan for her birthday:

Also, here are a couple sketches I did during our 12 hour drive.

punk

This guy is a character from my graphic novel, which I have an announcement about but which I’ll hold off on for now. Anyway, that’s probably not the style I’ll be drawing my story in, but I wanted to do it that way.

bunnies

We saw a bunch of wildlife on our vacation (black bear with her cubs, elk, cutie little baby raccoon, stray cats, heron, vultures, etc) but I don’t remember seeing any crying bunnies. So of course I had to draw some!

Dailies will be back tomorrow!
