Here’s a little factoid… last winter when I was still just thinking about doing a comic, my original idea was to do comic prayers, every day. I decided against it, for various reasons (no need to express your relief, or disappointment) but on occasion, when the prayer is particularly related to the overall theme of this comic (let’s review: art is hard work!) I think I can share. Share a prayer, if you dare.

and then the Lord sent Olga!
Haha, yes! Amen!
The other day I was telling someone at work how when you were four years old and starting your first day at Pilgrim’s nursery school I had to leave you clinging to the metal railing and crying as I turned and made myself walk down that ramp, around the corner and out the door. I said at that moment I would never have guessed that one day you would grow into the person who had the confidence and determination to do what you are doing today. You are a work in progress. You have our prayers…now…get to work!!!
art is hard work. I’m going to tattoo that to my forehead. Or at least write it on a post-it and stick it to my computer. One of those.
And Breena ended with: “Share a prayer, if you dare.”
And so … I will.
Heavenly Father. Abba. Thank You for this wonderful creation that surrounds us. Thank You for setting bits of Your glory before us in the heavens down to our DNA. Thank You for letting us see bits of Your glory from the huge to the microscopic. Thank You Lord. And thank You for the many godly people You have surrounded me with. Thank You for Breena … and for this scripture to use in my prayer for her this day.
[Wisdom is speaking] “So, my dear friends, listen carefully; those who embrace these my ways are most blessed. Mark a life of discipline and live wisely; don’t squander your precious life. Blessed the man, blessed the woman, who listens to me, awake and ready for me each morning, alert and responsive as I start my day’s work. When you find me, you find life, real life, to say nothing of GOD’s good pleasure. (Proverbs 8:32-35 MSG)
Lord, I pause now to lift Breena up to You. With joy I lift up Your daughter who You love so dearly. I ask that You increase Your wisdom in her. I ask that You increase Your discernment in her. I ask that You bless her with increased wisdom. Let her mark her life with discipline … let her living wisely be her mark on life. Breena … don’t squander your precious life. Don’t squander your precious life! You are blessed as you listen to wisdom … as you listen Your Holy God who is speaking to you … even as you read this public prayer. And now I pray that you realize that you may begin each day anew. Wake each morning alert and responsive as you start your days work. Seek wisdom Breena. And when you find her (isn’t it cool that wisdom is a “her”) you will find life… REAL life. And God will be smiling as He delights in you, the daughter He loves. He will be singing in delight over you. Come Lord … sit with Breena this day … let her hear Your singing. Let her REALLY hear Your songs of delight over her. Come Lord. Come. And we will give You the glory. All the glory is Yours Lord. I pray this in the name and with the authority of Christ Jesus, King of Kings. Amen.
Be blessed my friend!
