We were riding back from seeing the movie Ramona and Beezus with our friend Christina. I had low expectations going in, which tends to be a good way to see a movie, because this one was actually really good! I think we’ve come to expect that all childrens’ book film adaptations be artsy and pretentious (Where the Wild Things Are, Fantastic Mr. Fox, etc) so we look down our nose at one that was actually made with the child audience in mind. Plus it was fun to pick out the Portland references (I liked the cameo by a Trimet bus driver.) I still consider the PBS television series to be the ultimate Quimby incarnation, but this one was worth the second-run admission, easily.
