Alright, let me get the bad news out of the way, because then I have some pretty big good news. The bad news is that pre-orders for Picket Line didn’t begin yesterday like I originally said it would. That date was an estimate, based on a lot of variables, and unfortunately my guess was slightly off.
But only slightly. Because, now for the good news, I’m thrilled to announce that I was awarded a Xeric grant to self-publish Picket Line! I just found out on Friday, and couldn’t be more excited. The Xeric Foundation was started by Peter Laird (co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and has been awarding grants to comics self-publishers for almost 20 years now. It’s more than a little amusing to me that the Turtles were some of my favorite toys when I was a kid. Anyway, let me say for the first of many times how grateful I am to the Xeric Foundation. With the grant money I’ll be able to get Picket Line printed this summer, within the next month, actually! We’re just finishing up a few details on the business end of things, and will be launching pre-orders next week. So, this is your pre-pre-order announcement. It’s coming guys, it’s really happening. Here’s the cover!
